what is human design?

My name is Gisele and I am an astrology girl.
Or.. more accurately an astrology/human design woman.
But you get the gist.
In my work as an intuitive counsellor I’ve been using tools like astrology and human design to help my clients heal from their past and move powerfully into their future. What began as an experiment in 2017 became a lifestyle as I began to discover an innate confidence and love of life that had been buried under years of trauma and conditioning. As I began to heal and discover my own gifts I quickly found that I have a unique ability to translate mystical information into practical wisdom. Human Design and Astrology are the things that have had the most impact in my healing journey so now I am dedicated to bringing this wisdom to as many people as I can.
Today we’re gonna dive into the foundations of Human Design.
What the heck is Human Design?!
Human Design is a system of understanding the Aura and the Self. It was channeled in 1987 by a man named Ra Uru Hu (Robert Krakauer) and blends the wisdom of astrology, the I-Ching, the chakra system, Kabbalah, and quantum physics. It has the ability to show you your greatest strengths and your greatest lessons. Each aspect of your design carries a piece of the puzzle, the steps needed to become the person you came here to be. I have found Human Design (and Astrology, but that’s another post) to be irreplaceable in my spiritual journey.
How was human Design discovered?
Ra Uru Hu, born Robert Alan Krakower, channeled this system during a mystical experience he had while in Ibiza. It was channeled over a period of 9 days from January 3rd to 11th in 1987. During this time he was told by a voice that this system would support the evolution of consciousness on the planet. He was told to spread Human Design and share this wisdom even though he was hesitant to do so.
This sounds a bit woo to most people but it’s important to remember that channeling isn’t always this big weird mystical experience. Many of the greatest spiritual texts have been channeled. If you listen to Abraham Hicks or Dolores Cannon, have read A Course in Miracles or Bringers of the Dawn, or any of Alice Baileys work, you have come into contact with channeled work. As a writer myself, I can also confidently say that I am POSITIVE that most writers are channeling when they bring stories and wisdom into the world. The Human Experience is deeply deeply mystical even when it seems mundane.
Human Design Basics
Human Design is a system of understanding that is based upon where the planets were at the time of your birth (your conscious self, the self that we speak to in an astrology reading) and the date 88 days before your birth. This combination of planets combined creates what we call the BODYGRAPH. The sky in this system is divided into 64 pieces, opposed to the astrological 12, and in Human Design we call these Gates. When the Gates of your Personality (Birth Date) and the Gates of your Design (88 days before birth date) are combined we are able to see which Centres (Chakras) are activated within your Aura and from there can see your Energy Type, Profile, Incarnation Cross, and so on.
I’ll be honest with you, understanding how a Bodygraph is designed takes some time and study. For most of us it doesn’t make sense overnight. When I began to study astrology it was like a lightbulb turned on and I could see everything so clearly. Learning Astrology felt like a remembering, it was easy + effortless in a way that lead me to believe that I’ve done this before. Human Design was never that. Not for me, anyways. We need to remember that this system is built on ancient wisdom, yes, but it is still new. None of us have practiced this in past lives or carry this wisdom in our ancestral DNA. This synthesis of information is new to the collective so be patient with yourself in the learning process. You don’t need to fully understand the foundations in order to put this all into practice, I promise you.
When I first began experimenting with Human Design I didn’t understand it and I had a hard time wrapping my brain around how all of these different things intersected. But as I began experimenting + practicing I noticed how quickly things changed for me. And from then, I was hooked. Over time I came to understand Human Design in a deeper and more foundational way, but it took some time and some grace.

Energy Type: Represents your Aura and how it operates. You will either be a Projector, Manifestor, Generator, Manifesting Generator, or Reflector.
Profile: Represents your unique role in your community and comes from your Sun Gate (Personality and Design). You will either be a 1/3, 1/4, 2/4, 2/5, 3/5, 3/6, 4/1, 4/6, 5/1, 5/2, 6/2 or 6/3. The first number is the part of yourself you’re conscious of and the second number represents an unconscious identity.
Strategy + Authority: Represents how you’re meant to make decisions. You will have either a Sacral, Emotional, Splenic, Ego, Self-Projected, Mental, or Lunar Authority.
Incarnation Cross: Represent’s your Soul’s purpose and the mission you have in this lifetime.
The 9 Centres: Represent which energies you carry within you and which you amplify. These 9 Centres are the Crown, Ajna, Throat, Identity, Ego, Solar Plexus, Sacral, Spleen, and Root. Each centre is aligned with different energies + gates.
The 64 Gates: Represent unique codes that you carry based upon where the planets were in the zodiac at the time you were born and 88 days before you were born.
